NTCC Agriculture to host Spring Ag Fest

Where does your food come from?

If you're like many Americans, the answer is the grocery store. In fact, the grocery store is not where our food comes from, just from where it's distributed. Unfortunately, far too many people are unaware of the role of American agriculture has in their daily lives . . . and what it really takes to have food on their dinner table.

Just a few generations ago, most people were a part of, and had friends or relatives directly involved with, agriculture. Today, that is no longer the case.

NTCC to host job fair March 27

草榴社区 will host a job fair on Thursday, March鈥27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Building (SUB) on the main鈥燦TCC campus. The event is free to the public. More than a dozen local and鈥爎egional employers will be in attendance.


鈥 鈥 鈥 鈥"We realize that the job market is tough right now. We are offering this鈥爁air as an opportunity for job seekers to get face time with area hiring鈥爉anagers," Alex Ortega, NTCC Advisor/Recruiting Specialist, said.

NTCC plans travel-study course to Caddo Lake

The 草榴社区 Hanson-Sewell Center in Pittsburg is hosting an exciting travel-study opportunity this spring. The day trip, which will include a tour of Caddo Lake, lunch at Big Pine lodge and a stroll in downtown Jefferson, TX, is scheduled for Thursday, April 鈥17.


鈥 鈥 鈥 鈥燗 chartered bus will leave the Hanson-Sewell Center (237 College Street in Pittsburg) at 10 a.m. The group will enjoy lunch at the Big Pines Lodge and Watering Hole in Karnack before heading to Caddo Lake.

Fine Arts Club of Mount Pleasant gives scholarship

The 草榴社区 Foundation recently received a $500 gift to benefit a student majoring in fine arts. This scholarship, contributed by the Fine Arts Club of Mount Pleasant, is one of the longest running scholarships at NTCC (established 1985).鈥燩ictured, Sandra Price (center), Frances Standridge, and Joyce Thomas present the donation to Nita May, NTCC Director of Development (right) and Dr. Jonathan McCullough, NTCC Vice President for Advancement (left). Priority scholarship deadline set for March 31



Need help paying for college? The priority deadline to apply for a 草榴社区 Foundation scholarship for the Fall 2014 semester is Monday, March 31 at 5 p.m. Applications can be picked up with Lori Hunter in the Administration Building or a copy can be downloaded at (choose Scholarship Information button in left menu).




NTCC Foundation scholarships come from a variety of sources including individuals, families, businesses and civic clubs.

Eagles Softball struggles in tourney

The 草榴社区 Eagles (NTCC) softball team suffered a series of losses this weekend during a tournament held in Longview. The Eagles faced four college teams from three states on Friday and Saturday, with two additional games scheduled for Sunday being canceled because of weather.

Sophomore infielder Jennifer Miller hit the first homerun of the tournament for the Eagles in the fourth inning of Friday?s first game against Lamar Community College, scoring their only run of the game.

Baseball wins conference opener against Paris

The 草榴社区 Eagles (NTCC) baseball team is off to a strong start after winning their conference opener against Paris Junior College 4-1 on Thursday.


Neither team put any runs on the board until a series of errors by Paris in the top of the fifth led to the Eagles gaining a three-run advantage. A walk, a balk, and a batter being hit by pitch loaded the bases, putting NTCC in scoring position. This was followed by an error by the Paris shortstop, which allowed Connor Drake and Hunter Southerland to score.
