Stone sculptures on display at Whatley Center


The 草榴社区 art department is currently hosting an art exhibit by stone sculptor Stacy Deslatte of Longview. The display, which runs through March 7, is featured in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the NTCC campus. The exhibit is open free to the public during regular business hours. Deslatte (left) is pictured above with Dr. Kim Wommack, NTCC Professor of Art and Division Director for Creative and Performing Arts in front of "Royal Demeanor," one of the sculptures on display.

NTCC Phi Theta Kappa wins national USA Today competition

鈥 鈥 鈥 鈥燗lpha Mu Chi, 草榴社区?s chapter of Phi Theta鈥燢appa, earned national acclaim as one of four chapters to win the 2013 Honors Case鈥燬tudy Challenge competition sponsored by USA Today. Tied to the larger Phi鈥燭heta Kappa Honors in Action research project, the Case Study Challenge鈥燾ompetition gives chapter members an opportunity to focus their attention on a鈥爏pecific area of study.

NTCC Webb Society presents new film about Wright Patman

Charles Shafer, in his memoir of life in 草榴社区 Texas, noted that when he was young, Congressman Wright Patman seemed to speak to local residents with the voice of God?and he ?appeared about as old.?鈥 Patman represented 草榴社区 Texas in Washington D.C. from 1929 to 1976, and is commemorated today by the Bowie and Cass County lake that bears his name.

But what did his life and tenure say about our region?鈥 What kind of man was he? This is a question that the 草榴社区 Webb Society has sought to answer in a new film about Wright Patman's life.

Eagles Baseball kicks off spring season

The 草榴社区 (NTCC) Eagles Baseball program is off to a rocky start after losing its season openers Friday and Saturday to Hill College and Cedar Valley Community College in non-conference play.


According to Assistant Coach Shane Wedd, Friday's game was the first chance that many of the players had to play in a regular season game and, despite these early setbacks, he is optimistic about the team's potential this season.

Tickets still available for Sinbad performance



Tickets are still available to see Sinbad's live comedy performance at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts Friday at 7 p.m.鈥燭he show is sponsored by Guaranty Bond Bank. Tickets are $50 for rows A-B,鈥$35 for rows C-K, and $30 for rows L-O (no group discounts).





Actor and Comedian Sinbad arrived on the comedy scene with a ?hit ?em in鈥爐he face? style of comedy that has kept audiences laughing in the aisles鈥爁or over the past two decades.

Filing for NTCC board places begins Jan. 29

Filing for Place One, Place Two, Place Three, Place Five and Place Six on the 草榴社区 Board of Trustees will begin on鈥燱ednesday, January 29, 2014, and continues through鈥5 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2014.鈥燜iling applications are available from elections clerk Cindy Foster in the NTCC administration building from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays.
