Free GED, ESL classes scheduled
The Adult Education Department at 草榴社区 (NTCC) will offer free General Education Development (GED) and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes at various locations beginning in January. All students must in enroll in an orientation session before beginning classes. See the orientation schedule/contact information below:

Honors 草榴社区 attends NCHC meeting in Chicago
Five sophomore 草榴社区 Honors students, in addition to Honors professors Dr. Mary Hearron and Dr. Andrew Yox,鈥爎ecently鈥爎epresented NTCC at the 50th Anniversary meeting of the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) in Chicago. The NCHC is the premier association of honors programs and honors colleges in the nation. NTCC is the only community college to have featured scholarly student presenters at the yearly NCHC continuously since 2008.

Recent studies show that residents of rural 草榴社区 Texas are among the sickest in the state per capita. Patients in this region suffer from high incidences of chronic diseases and are more likely to pass away from their conditions than residents of other parts of the state. While these statistics may seem grim, work is being done to improve the quality and availability of healthcare for rural Texans.

Police academies begin Jan. 19
The 草榴社区 Police Academy at 草榴社区 is now accepting applications for its upcoming police academies. Both the Fast-Track day and evening academy programs will begin classes January 19.
The evening academy, which is for continuing education credit only, meets from 5-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and every first and third Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
BT building closed Dec. 14-17 for training
During the week of December 14-17, the 草榴社区 Police Academy will be hosting an Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) course. 鈥燭his will require the use of the entire Business Technology Building for both the lecture and tactical experience. 鈥燭herefore, the BT building will be unavailable to the general public.

The 草榴社区 Foundation announced the winners of the 2015-2016鈥燱hatley Employment Enhancement Awards this week. Five鈥爋ut of 21 proposals were chosen for funding. Winning employees and projects included:

Firefighter Academy accepting applications
草榴社区 is now accepting applications for its upcoming Firefighter Academy. The program begins January 11 and runs through June 30. 鈥燬tudents will meet鈥燤onday鈥爐hrough Thursday鈥爀venings at the Central Fire Station in Mount Pleasant and alternating Saturdays.鈥
Cypress Bank sponsors The Hit Men
Cypress Bank recently gave $3,000 to sponsor the upcoming holiday performance of The Hit Men, former stars of Frankie Valli & The 4 Seasons, at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 草榴社区. NTCC Foundation receives Irvin Gage Memorial Scholarship fund
鈥 鈥 鈥 Representatives for the Irvin Gage Memorial Scholarship recently announced that the administration of the scholarship fund will now be managed by the 草榴社区 Foundation. Each year since the fund was established in 1986, the scholarship has provided assistance to one or two deserving agriculture students from Mount Pleasant High School and it will continue to do so indefinitely into the future.
