CMA & ACM award winning singer, Janie Fricke, will be live in concert Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 草榴社区's Whatley Center for the Performing Arts. A true country girl, Janie grew up on a farm in Indiana before setting her sights on a career as a mainstream country music singer.
The 草榴社区 Fire Academy is now recruiting for its 20th Academy. The Academy started in 2002 and has trained numerous individuals in fire service. The NTCC Fire Academy prepares trainees for a career as a firefighter. The academy is an authorized training facility for structural firefighting under Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP - FDID #107). Trainees who successfully complete the academy will be eligible for the certification exam given by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.

The Whatley Center for the Performing Arts will present John Mueller鈥檚 Winter Dance Party on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. Winter Dance Party is the official live and authentic re-creation of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper's final tour and the only show endorsed by the Holly, Valens and Richardson estates. The performance is sponsored by Texas Heritage National Bank.

草榴社区 hosted the third National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Southern Region Rodeo October 15-16. The Rodeo was held at the Mount Pleasant Rodeo Association Priefert Arena in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Two students from 草榴社区 recently received the Walter B Cooper Scholarship at the Phi Theta Kappa Texas Leadership Conference held virtually on October 15-17th. The Walter B Cooper Scholarship recognizes outstanding students in the state of Texas who are 鈥渨ell-rounded鈥 in the four Hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship.

As a result, Presidential Scholar, Israel Perez, was given the opportunity to meet with Architect Derrik Godwin and his team at Godwin Design Architects located in Hughes Springs on October 13, 2021.
