My name is Laurencio Velazquez Jr. from Mount Vernon, TX. While I was in MVHS, I was chosen as a recipient of the Mount Vernon Rotary Club Motivational Scholarship to NTCC. I had no idea what I wanted to do but knew I wanted to graduate from college. I am a first-generation college student, and with the generous scholarship, I knew I could accomplish that.

I attended NTCC and concurrently started my career with a regional bank. After some time with the bank, I started my pursuit of a Business Administration degree. I graduated from Texas A&M University-Texarkana in December 2014 with my BBA, after transferring from NTCC in 2012 with my Associates of Science and a Financial Accounting certification. I originally started as a teller in the Mount Vernon, TX branch 16 years ago. With dedication, it allowed me to work up the ranks to AVP/Location President of the Pittsburg, TX location.

I am glad to be part of the institution; while I had no planned path, that led me to my professional and educational success. I am a proud father of a toddler who keeps this old man young, and I enjoy playing cornhole competitively.
