The winners of the 2021 McGraw Hill Poster Contest at the Whatley Foyer in May received a free trip, ticket and lunch, 29 July, to the Texas Shakespeare Festival in Kilgore, Texas. Together with Honors Director Dr. Andrew Yox, Brian Ramirez, and Maxime Risner, saw Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor in an afternoon production.

Honors ²ÝÁñÉçÇø, the honors program of ²ÝÁñÉçÇø announces a call for poems and images that can accent or enliven our sense of the surroundings, people, the culture, and/or the history of ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Texas.
Megan Folk, Fatima Fuentes, and Skylar Fondren (pictured), students at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø, were among the nation’s 207 Phi Theta Kappa members named as 2020 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholars and will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.
²ÝÁñÉçÇø’s own Dr. Matthew Lampert, Professor of Philosophy, will give a lecture as part of an international conference this month. The conference is online and all talks are open and viewable by the public (though only people registered for the conference can post comments or attend the Q&A sessions). The conference is Social Ontology 2021 (or SO21), and it's hosted by the International Social Ontology Society (ISOS) and the European Network for Social Ontology (ENSO).
The NTCC Work4College Program celebrated the end of summer with its annual luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 4. Work4College donors, supervisors, students and their families attended the event in the Student Union Building. This is the eighth year of the program and more than 80 students participated.
The Adult Education Department at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø is accepting new and returning students for its GED (General Educational Development) and ESL (English as a Second Language) programs. Those interested in participating in either of these free educational programs should call to make an appointment for registration. While classes are offered in various convenient locations around the area, all registration will be held at the Community Resource Center (formerly MPISD Administration Building) at 105 N. Riddle Street in Mount Pleasant.
Megan Folk, a student from ²ÝÁñÉçÇø, has been named a 2021 Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) StudyBuddy Scholar and has received a 100 percent discount on either the TEAS or HESI prep courses at .
Davin Whatley, a student at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø in Texas, has been named the 2021 Dr. Mary Hood Texas Region Scholar and will receive a $1,500 scholarship.
The Dr. Mary Hood Texas Region Scholarship is presented to the Texas applicant with the highest score from Phi Theta Kappa’s spring scholarship application, which helps new Phi Theta Kappa members defray educational expenses while enrolled in associate degree programs.
NTCC is pleased to announce that Anna Ingram, Associate Vice President of Arts and Sciences/Director of Title V, has been nominated for this week’s Summer Shout Out. From her leadership role with faculty to ensuring that NTCC offers high-quality online instruction, Anna fills many roles on campus.
