Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, NTCC continues to offer an expanded variety of course formats. This gives students maximum flexibility and allows for proper social distancing and safety measures on campus. It is very important to check your schedule ahead of time so you will know when and how to attend class. The types of courses you may see on your schedule are as follows:

The Whatley Center at �������� Texas Community college announced this week that it will postpone the spring 2021 reopening to march. Initial plans were to resume with limited-capacity events beginning in January. Due to the continued rise of COVID-19 cases in the area, the season has been tentatively pushed back until March. 

It is that time of year when weather can be unpredictable in northeast Texas. Below is a reminder about NTCC's procedure in case of bad weather:

NTCC’s decision to close or not will usually be made by 6 a.m. for day classes and by 3 p.m. for evening classes. If the campuses are closed or classes cancelled, the official notice will be sent out via the campus Eagle Alert system (text, email, phone) and a message will be posted on the NTCC homepage (). Messages will also be posted to the official NTCC Facebook page (), and on Twitter (@ntcceagles).

The NTCC Foundation is happy to announce that nine NTCC employees have been awarded funds through the 2020-2021 Whatley Employee Enhancement Grant. The Foundation received 15 outstanding applications.  Six were funded by the grant and three received private donations.  The total for all funded projects was $11,500.  The Whatley Employee Enhancement Grant was established by James & Elizabeth Whatley specifically to fund special projects and enhance educational opportunities that fall outside the institution’s regular budget. Each year, NTCC full-time employees may apply for the approximately $8,500 available. Projects are reviewed and selected by the volunteer members of the Whatley Employee Enhancement Committee.

The NTCC Foundation has more than 300 scholarships available for the 2021-2022 academic year. The scholarships are not directly tied to FAFSA eligibility, so you may receive a scholarship even if you don’t qualify for PELL grants. What’s the catch? You have to apply!.

Sophomore Honors Scholar, Gem Elmore, recently became the third NTCC student in history to give an invited address to the annual meeting of the Texas State Historical Association (TSHA). Professorial judges of the TSHA’s collegiate auxiliary, The Walter Webb Society, selected Elmore’s work to represent the best of essays in 2020 in the state among freshman and sophomore college/university students.  Elmore’s essay is on the “Integration of �������� Texas Churches.”

�������� is accepting applications for Day and Evening EMT Basic classes. Go to to fill out the online application. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a clinical component added.

�������� will be closed from Monday, Dec. 21 through Friday, Jan. 1. Offices will resume normal business hours on Monday, Jan. 4. 

The latest issue of The Eagle is now ! Be sure to check it out. This edition includes a great story on the Guardians of the Children biker organization. The article features two NTCC faculty members who are a part of The Guardians. There is also a Christmas section with “letters to Santa” from some of our students and a “Grinch” pancake recipe for Christmas morning.

Jalyn English, a Presidential Scholar in Honors ��������, was recently named Outstanding Music Appreciation Honors Student by the NTCC Division of Creative and Performing Arts.
