My NTCC Story: April Brannon

April Brannon

April Brannon, Instructor of Medical Assisting

My journey with NTCC began as a dual credit student at Chapel Hill. After graduation, I took a few general education classes before stepping away for a short time. In 2011, I returned with a clear goal in mind鈥攑ursuing my AAS in Medical Assisting. From the moment I started the program, I knew I had found the right path. The instructors were not only knowledgeable but also genuinely supportive, always invested in our success as students. To this day, many of them still keep in touch and continue to encourage me in my career.

In 2016, Dr. Nix invited me to join the Medical Assisting program as an adjunct instructor. I taught for two years in that role before transitioning to full-time faculty in Fall 2018. Since then, I鈥檝e had the privilege of serving as instructor, Practicum Coordinator, and most recently, Program Director for Medical Assisting, Medical Coding, and Healthcare Management.

What I love most about my role is the opportunity to connect with students鈥攇uiding them, celebrating their growth, and later seeing them excel in their careers throughout our community. NTCC has provided me with not only a supportive work environment but also a place to continue growing professionally. I am grateful to be part of a program that makes such an impact on both our students and the healthcare needs of this region.

NTCC is a blessing to this community! It is exciting and rewarding to play a role in this college, and I hope that we can continue to pour into the students and community for a long time!
