The 草榴社区鈥燗rt鈥燚epartment will host its second art exhibit鈥爋f the 2017-2018 school year October 2- 27 in the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing鈥燗rts. The show, ?Crystal & Glass?, will feature watercolors by鈥燼rtist Mollie Jones.鈥燗 reception with the鈥燼rtist will be held Thursday, October 5 at 12:30 p.m. in the Whatley Center foyer. Refreshments will be served.
Jones is a nationally recognized award-winning watercolorist and workshop teacher who works exclusively in transparent watercolor.鈥犫燗 self-taught artist, she enjoys a passion for painting crystal, glass, silver, and anything reflective in nature.鈥犫燬he lives and works in a red barn south of Tyler, Texas and shares her farm with her husband, a diva cat, chickens, and an abundance of flower gardens.
?In my transparent watercolor paintings, I strive to show how light and values and the skill of drawing almost always鈥爄nsures鈥燼 successful painting...both for me and for those seeing my work,? Jones said. ?The love of drawing has always been important with my art, and I consider myself a representational realist in that realism is a must in my paintings.?
Mollie is a member of the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society, and holds Signature Status with the Texas Watercolor Society, Georgia Watercolor Society, Southwestern Watercolor Society, and the Wyoming Watercolor Society.鈥犫燞er painting "Blue Plate Special Pears," which will be included in the show, has been accepted into publication with a nationally known book, SPLASH 18, which features 100 watercolorists considered "Best Watercolor Artists in America.?鈥犫燞er painting, "Rosebowls and Berries" has been accepted into the Transparent Watercolor Society of America's 2017 International Exhibition held in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
