Honors 草榴社区 seeks entries for poetry contest

草榴社区 and Honors 草榴社区鈥爎ecently鈥燼nnounced a call for original poems to enter the annual 草榴社区 Texas Poetry Contest.The judges will be looking for poems that can accent or enliven our sense of the surroundings, people, the culture, and/or the history of 草榴社区 Texas. Adult winners will take home $200 and $50 for first and second place. Full-time student winners for first, second, third, and fourth places will receive $400, $300, $200 and $100 respectively.鈥 The general public, of any age, is welcome to enter the contest.鈥 Any genre of poem, and at any length, can compete. To win an award, contestants must be willing to read their poems aloud at the poetry reading scheduled for Friday, September 8 at 11 a.m. in the Whatley Center foyer.鈥燗 committee of NTCC faculty judges will determine the top poems.

To compete, send preliminary questions, and/or your poem, principle occupation, and telephone number to Honors Director, Dr. Andrew Yox, at ayox@ntcc.edu鈥燽y noon on Friday, September 1. Contestants may consult the poems of all past winners by visiting the Poetry Contest link at ntcc.edu/honors.
